1. Many of today's best companies realize that success of an enterprise can be measured in ways other than financial statements (Johnson, 2003). Identify the importance to the stakeholders, as well as stockholders, of an enterprise operating in an ethically and socially responsible manner. Analyze how acting socially responsible and ethical affects the bottom line, and justify or defend your position. (Business Ethics and Social Responsibility).

2. Case study research has become a very popular approach in qualitative research, especially in business and education (Babbie, 2010; Yin, 2016). Explain how the case study approach, which focuses attention on one or a few instances of some social phenomenon, is appropriate in exploring traffic fatalities in a certain geographic area. Analyze the origin of the case study approach and its appropriateness in social science research, including the types of case studies. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the case study method compared with other qualitative and quantitative approaches. (Research Methods: Case Study)

3. According to Hartman et al. (2018), ethics are concerned with how an individuals act and how one should live. It is normative, which means an individual intends to find out which actions are right and wrong or which character traits are good and bad. Business ethics relates to an individual’s or an organization’s decisions that society evaluates as right or wrong, while social responsibility is a broader concepts that concerns the impact of the entire organization’s activities on society. Define business ethics and social responsibility and explain its relevance to business and detect some of the ethical issues that may arise in a business and what responsibilities does a business have towards its employees and to the society. 2. What are in-text citations?

They are written in the past tense in APA 7th edition, and there are two types:

1. Narrative citation (a direct citation)

Introduce your direct citation with the author’s last name and year of publication in parenthesis.

Work by one author:

· Alexander (2018) stated, “…” (p.10).

· According to Alexander (2018), “…” (p.10).

· Smith (2022) explained, “…” (p.2).

2. Paraphrased citation (parenthetical citation)

Paraphrase your reference by putting the author’s words in your own and including the author’s last name followed by the year of publication in parenthesis.

The page number is not required for a paraphrase. If it is a longer work or report, (per APA 7th ed. Manual p.269), however, a page number can be included, but it must be placed at the end of the paraphrased sentence in parenthesis.

i. Citing a paraphrased point. When referring to another author’s ideas, include the author’s name and the year the book was published. For example, here are two ways to cite a point from a book by a single author: 1) Smith (2010) claimed the economic downturn resulted directly from abuses in the banking sector, or 2) The economic downturn resulted directly from abuses in the banking sector (Smith, 2010, p. 163).

b. Summarize (is a shortened rephrasing of their own or another

author’s main idea).

c. Directly Quote (a direct citation of another author’s actual words

in quotation marks).

1. Citing a direct quote from a book by one author : Smith (2010) stated, “The banking sector’s abuses were largely to blame for the failing economy” (p. 163). Be sure to include quotation marks and keep your direct quote brief, preferring paraphrase over quotation.

2. Citing two authors: When citing from a book by two authors, introduce the quotation by separating the authors’ last names with “and” followed by the year of publication in parenthesis and the exact words of the authors’ in quotation marks followed by the page number in parenthesis as follows:

McCauley and Christiansen (2018) stated, “…” (p. 10).

3. Citing multiple authors (3-5). When citing multiple authors, for example, more than three authors from a book such as Williams, Young, Evans, & Ruiz (2016), just cite the first author by last name and et al., followed by the year of publication as follows:

According to Williams et al., (2016), “…” (p. 2).

Williams et al., (2016) stated, “…” (p.2).

Maddi et al., (2006) stated, “Previous research has established hardiness as a dispositional factor in preserving and enhancing performance and health despite stressful circumstances” (p.1).

APA Style for List of References

1. The “ References” title must be in bold and centered.

2. When composing the References page, for books, the publisher location is no longer needed. All that is required is the publisher’s name as follows:

When formatting and listing your references correctly in your “References” at the end of your paper, you create clarity for the reader, give credit to the author for their work, and show the reader where they can easily locate the source for further reference.
