ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN PART 2: STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN PART 2: STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
Academic Success and Professional Development Plan
Part 1
Relationship Between academic integrity and writing
Academic integrity is the set regulations and rules within the academic realm that enable students to avoid academic dishonesty, such as plagiarism. According to Ellis et al. (2020), academic integrity is vital in ensuring that higher education institutions maintain high academic standards by ensuring their students uphold referencing, honest writing, good research, and academic publishing. On the other hand, academic integrity has a close relationship with academic writing. That is because the level of writing that students uphold, including the readers’ perceptions, should be shaped by the author’s academic integrity of their works (Eaton & Edino, 2018). Hence, the best way nursing students can ensure that they uphold academic integrity, especially regarding plagiarism, is by acknowledging the authors of the works they decide to incorporate in their academic work, like essays or term papers. In such a case, acknowledging the authors creates a fair instance between the author and the reader. That is because the author had sacrificed their time to creatively create an original idea that adds value to their work. Also, it is necessary to note that integrity, a strong personality, and discipline are some factors that mold integrity in academic writing ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN PART 2: STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS.
Relationship Between Professional Practices and Scholarly Ethics
Professional practices refer to conducts and behaviors that dictate how a certain professionals must carry themselves as they continue to work. However, scholarly ethics involve moral and academic integrity when working on the course or research work. Scholarly ethics and Professional practices have traditionally been interwoven since they are seen to strengthen one another (Fitzgerald, 2020). Therefore, individuals who uphold strong scholarly ethics tend to have enhanced skills that can be integrated into their professional practice, like ensuring one engages in evidence-based research before carrying out any medical interventions. Such an instance is essential since healthcare practitioners minimize the chances of medical errors. Also, by engaging in scholarly ethics, nursing students build their creativity and confidence, which will be essential during their future practices.

How Safe Assign, Grammarly, and Paraphrasing Impact Academic Integrity
Certain crucial tools can be used during the writing process to help the author increase the level of writing as a whole and identify similarity index or plagiarism in advance. Among these tools is Grammarly which is essential in identifying common mistakes in writing, such as tenses, wrong spelling, punctuation, and tenses (Curtis & Tremayne, 2021). The good thing about using Grammarly is that it helps nursing students produce academic work that is easily understood by the reader since, at times, using wrong spelling and tenses may trigger the reader to understand a different message from the original intent. For safe assign, it has been a crucial tool for most higher institutions since they can easily identify when students have engaged in plagiarism. Hence, all students know they cannot copy and paste works from various databases and pose them as their own since the safe assign tool will highlight all the similarity indexes (Masic, 2019). However, the safe assign works hand in hand with paraphrasing since once the safe assign has detected that a certain area of the student’s work has been plagiarized, it is always essential to paraphrase the work to avoid such instances. However, paraphrasing should be the key practice when engaging in any academic work to avoid plagiarism while ensuring that the authors whose work has been used in one’s research have been acknowledged.
Part Two: Ways to Uphold Academic Integrity as;
An MSN Student
I want to demonstrate exceptional academic integrity while upholding the highest ethical standards throughout my learning process. As I plan to accomplish these goals, there will be a need to explore and use specific tactics. The first tactic I will use is giving myself plenty of time to prepare for the coursework and the tests. My preparation for the assignments and exams will be substantially aided by consulting with my tutor, especially if I have questions concerning a certain topic. Also, I will need to plan my time well to ensure that I conduct additional studies using the library and online resources. Another important factor will be ensuring that whenever I take an idea from scholarly literature, I must properly credit other scholars’ work to avoid plagiarism. That way, I will have ensured that my high professional code of conduct will be maintained, more so if I uphold integrity and ethics throughout my nursing career ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN PART 2: STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS.
I will also uphold integrity and ethics by being open and truthful as I ensure that I develop positive relationships with my patients and workmates during practice. I will also attend all the classes and receive the training I need to advance my capabilities as a nurse professional while maintaining my integrity and ethics. Moreover, I will look into resources that discuss professional standards and the nursing code of ethics. Among these sources could be publications about the code of ethics I will need to maintain throughout my nursing career. These tactics will all guarantee that I maintain my standards high.
My Nursing Professional Work
An ongoing learning process will be necessary for nursing professionals throughout their careers to adapt to the dynamics of the workplace due to variables like globalization and technological improvements. I will initially focus on developing my nursing career every three years to ensure I uphold integrity and ethics in my professional work as a nurse throughout my career. Such an approach will give me the knowledge and abilities I will need as new methods become available, enhancing my overall competence and moral character throughout my career (West, 2020). In addition, adhering to the facility policies, professional code of conduct, and patient support policies will be my top priorities since they will help me stay on the correct track.
Resources and Approaches Review
As a student, the tools and strategies I plan to use are library materials, attending practical sessions as needed, using technology to conduct online research, consulting previous papers and projects to gain knowledge and become comfortable with test circumstances, and performing research. On the other hand, as a nursing professional, I intend to use various resources and strategies to enhance my profession’s overall ethics, integrity, and service delivery. These include referring to the existing codes of conduct, undergoing additional training when necessary, attending professional-related seminars and workshops, teamwork, and proper use and application of technology (West, 2020). Also, there will be a need to engage a variety of nursing databases which will help me ensure that I have the correct citations. Another advantage of using scholarly databases is that it enables students to find the most current research and full articles, such as in the case of PubMed Central.
