STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
Part 2 A Relationship Between academic integrity and writing
There is a strong relationship between academic integrity and writing. Good academic writing requires honesty and accuracy in reporting information and results (Ellis et al., 2020). It also demands that writers give credit where credit is due, by citing the sources of ideas and data that they have used. Plagiarism, which is the deliberate use of someone else’s work without giving credit, is a serious violation of academic integrity.
There is a strong relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics. Scholars and professionals are expected to adhere to a code of conduct that includes honesty, accuracy, and respect for others. Violations of these standards can lead to serious consequences, such as expulsion from a professional organization or loss of one’s professional license.
Grammarly, Safe Assign, and paraphrasing all contribute to academic integrity. Grammarly is a software program that helps writers check their grammar, spelling, and punctuation (Stevens et al., 2020). Safe Assign is a plagiarism detection tool that can be used to check student’s work for plagiarism. Paraphrasing is the process of rewriting someone else’s work in your own words. All of these tools help writers to produce original, well-written work that meets the standards of academic integrity.
Part 2 B – Ways to Uphold Academic Integrity as an MSN Student
There are a few key strategies I plan to pursue to maintain integrity and ethics in my academic work as a student in the MSN program. First, I will always be honest in my work and will never plagiarize or engage in academic dishonesty of any kind. I will also be sure to properly cite all sources used in my work. Secondly, I will strive to produce high-quality work that meets all the requirements and expectations of my instructors. I understand that academic integrity also includes producing work that is your own, and so I will avoid collaboration with others except when it is explicitly allowed or required. Finally, I will be respectful of my classmates and instructors, and will not engage in any kind of harassment or discrimination STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS.
I plan to pursue a few different strategies in order to maintain integrity and ethics in my professional work as a nurse. First, I will always adhere to the code of ethics set forth by the American Nurses Association. Additionally, I will seek out resources and approaches that can help me to maintain my ethical standards, such as attending professional development workshops and networking with other nurses.
