Mathew and Peterlin (2016) opine that migraines and cluster headaches are vascular headaches and the tension is not a vascular headache. The cases of cluster headaches occur in clusters and at a short time before going away. In addition, cluster headaches occur in the same spot and are characterized by unilateral sweating and having a facial sensation that is not normal. A cluster headache occurs as an extreme pain that one feels burning in the head. Moreover, cluster headaches are treated using the same medication that is used in the treatment of migraine headaches.
On the other hand, tension headaches are not vascular headaches and one does not have the experience of a pounding headache nature. The headache results in a constant ache and the parts that are involved include the neck of the side of the neck. The cases of migraine headaches are unilateral as opposed to the global nature of the tension headaches. In addition, the same medication that is used for the treatment of a migraine cannot be used for the treatment of tension headaches.
