Chapter 9 Assignment: Workshop: Competition Behavior – Day 2 – Part 2 (After lunch)

This is continued from the previous weeks. You an athletic director at a school and level of your choice (youth-sports organization, high school, or college) and are preparing to hold a pre-school retreat for your coaches. Using the chapter 9 worksheets, plan this section of the workshop that will help your coaches direct their energy during competitions using 3 important coaching tasks (the 3-E’s). This part is 3-hours long and begins day 2 after lunch. This concludes day 2.

Include the following:

  1. A schedule of activities
    1. 1.1.With estimated times
    2. 1.2.Descriptions
    3. 1.3.Purpose of the activity
    4. 1.4.Rationale for using the activity
  2. Powerpoint presentation
  3. List of videos with links, include a short description and the purpose for using the video
  4. Assessment survey to determine the effectiveness of this part of your workshop

All of this should be in one document – do not upload more than one document. You may have to covert all documents to pdf’s then merge the pdf’s.

Welcome and introduction (15 minutes).

Begin the session by introducing the coaches, emphasizing their crucial role in the workshop, and outlining the day's agenda.

Set the tone for the workshop and foster a positive and engaging environment.

Icebreaker, "Two Truths and a Lie" (20 minutes). This fun and interactive activity is designed to help everyone feel relaxed and engaged.

Description: Each participant shares two genuine and one fake remark about themselves—the remainder of the group estimates which statement is false.

Purpose: To break the ice, foster engagement, and enable coaches to get to know one another.

Divide coaches into small groups and give them practice design scenarios. Each group evaluates the scenario and discusses planning a practical practice session.

Purpose: Encourage coaches to think critically and collaborate, allowing them to implement the principles taught in the presentation.

Description: PowerPoint presentation continues to discuss the importance of effective communication and feedback during practice sessions.

Assessment Survey (10 minutes)

Description: survey to assess the effectiveness of the workshop's content and delivery for this part.

Purpose: Gather feedback from coaches to evaluate the success of the workshop and identify areas for improvement.
