Examine types of treatment versus types of punishment for juvenile crimes.

Build the case for which one (i.e., treatment, punishment, or combination of both) you believe has the stronger position based on your research and the specific juvenile crime to which you will apply the concepts of treatment and punishment. The crime you choose can be violent (e.g., homicide, sexual assault, etc.) or non-violent (e.g., drug possession or sales, theft, etc.).

Select your city (or state) and one other jurisdiction in the United States.

Identify the prevailing thought in your city (or state) as well as the other jurisdiction you chose (i.e., treatment, punishment, or a combination).

Analyze which of the two jurisdictions has lower recidivism rates.

Identify whether the recidivism rate is the best indicator of success or failure of treatment versus punishment philosophy.

Explain why or why not.

Examine scholarly research on the most effective strategies for reducing juvenile crime rates.

Identify which strategy or combination of strategies the research appears to support.

Identify whether it is based on type of crime.

Explain whether a given strategy works best depending upon the nature of the crime (i.e., violent vs. non-violent).

Support which juvenile justice intervention strategy would be most effective to counter the crime or criminal justice issue based on your research.

Summarize which concept (i.e., treatment, punishment, or combination) best supports the overarching concept of social justice.

In this assignment, you will choose a criminal case study from your own research or use one from the crime section of The Daily ChronicleLinks to an external site. website to examine the differences between the juvenile and adult court systems. You will read and summarize a case involving an adult. Then you will consider how this case would unfold differently had a juvenile committed the crime.

Instructions

Read the case information and write a 2-3 page paper in which you:

1. Summarize the facts of the case.
2. Examine how the procedure would differ if the defendant or defendants were underage when the offense was committed.
3. Identify and discuss how juvenile proceedings differ from adult criminal proceedings as well as the differences in charges for the same crime.
4. Define the waiver process of transferring a juvenile into the adult court system.
5. Make and support recommendations for disposition based on the assumption that each defendant in your selected case is a minor being tried as a juvenile.
6. Use at least three sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the library or review library guides. Overview

Many organizations have adopted cloud computing. In this assignment, you will research cloud computing and explore its advantages and disadvantages. Specifically, you will write a 3 pages paper in which you:

1. Outline the planning process that needs to be in place before adopting cloud computing.
   • Be sure to identify the stakeholders who need to be involved and the discussions that need to take place.
2. Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing.
3. Describe the methodology you would use to select a cloud computing service model.
4. Review the security risks and mitigation activities that need to take place before adopting cloud computing.
