Ethical Leadership

Week 4 DiscussionAfter completing the reading this week, we reflect on a few key concepts this week:

  1. Discuss what ethical leadership is and how it impacts the organizational culture.
  2. What are the various dimensions of ethical leadership?
  3. Note some failures in ethical leadership, please find an example, explain the failure and note possible solutions to fix the issue with leadership.

Please be sure to answer all the questions above in the initial post.Please ensure the initial post and two response posts are substantive.  Substantive posts will do at least TWO of the following:

  • Ask an interesting, thoughtful question pertaining to the topic
  • Expand on the topic, by adding additional thoughtful information
  • Answer a question posted by another student in detail
  • Share an applicable personal experience
  • Provide an outside source
  • Make an argument

At least one scholarly (peer-reviewed) resource should be used in the initial discussion thread.  Please ensure to use information from your readings and other sources from the UC Library.  Use APA references and in-text citations.Please be sure to engage by Tuesday at 11:59pm ET and then engage on two more days throughout the week (for a total of three days of engagement, before Sunday at 11:59pm, ET.

    Data Mining

    Create a discussion thread (with your name) and answer the following question:

    Discussion (Chapter 4): What are the privacy issues with data mining? Do you think they are substantiated?
    Note: The first post should be made by Tuesday 11:59 p.m., EST. I am looking for active engagement in the discussion.  Please engage early and often.

      Create a Change Management Request

       

      The Happy Pup Daycare Company (a fictitious company that is not based on any real company) that wants to develop a website that links client dog profiles for the client to see photos and updates of the great experiences their pet is having at their chain of facilities. This is in the form of photos with quick captions during the pet’s stay. The Happy Pup Daycare Company has also been aware that when clients are away there are times they are simply unavailable should a question or emergency arise.

      To solve this problem, a project has been instituted to connect to the client pet’s veterinarian and have vital information linked to the Happy Pup Daycare Company web database. This will include vet name, the on-call emergency number, allergy and medication information as well as a form scanned in from the client that is signed for permission to treat in the case of injury or illness, along with emergency contact information of the client or a responsible party. This new addition is being driven by the company legal department to avoid potential lawsuits.

      The IT department will create an update that will allow more information (additional fields) to be recorded in the company database that is accessible at every facility’s location and a new scanner will be installed at every point-of-sale station to scan in the signatures. The newly created Change Management department within the Information Technology department will be the point of contact from the locations, the various departments involved and manage any changes during the project from an IT perspective.

        Assignment Instructions 

        This analysis project requires you to tackle a problem within your field of study by first exploring it, its causes, and its impacts.  Then, if you want, you can recommend one or more practical solutions to solve the problem.   

        After deciding on the problem you wish to tackle, begin building questions about it. Your goal for the analysis is to answer the questions through your sources. Finding multiple angles and perspectives is ideal so that you explore those possibilities in the final paper before settling on your recommendation.  Be sure to identify what is at stake.  

        Here are questions to help guide your analysis: 

        1. What is the problem being addressed (explain, describe, and "prove" that it exists)?  

        2. Who is affected by this problem?  

        3. Why does this problem exist? (Identify the root causes.)  

        4. Why does the problem persist? (Identify the major factors that contribute to the problem's ongoing presence.)  

        5. What is at stake if the problem is not solved? 

          If you decide to include a solution, use these questions to guide you:   

        1. Who can take action?  

        2. What should they do, exactly?  

        3. Why would this help? 

        4. What are the positive and negative aspects of your solution(s)?

        Imagine that you work for a consulting firm that offers information technology and database services. Part of its core services is to optimize and offer streamlined solutions for efficiency. In this scenario, your firm has been awarded a contract to implement a new personnel system for a government agency. This government agency has requested an optimized data repository for its system, which will enable the management staff to perform essential human resources (HR) duties along with the capability to produce ad hoc reporting features for various departments. They look forward to holding data that will allow them to perform HR core functions such as hiring, promotions, policy enforcement, benefits management, and training.

        Instructions

        Using this scenario, write a 3 page paper in which you:

        • Determine the steps in the development of an effective entity relationship model (ERM) diagram and determine the possible iterative steps and factors that one must consider in this process, with consideration of the HR core functions and responsibilities of the client.
        • Analyze the risks that can occur if any of the developmental or iterative steps of creating an ERM diagram are not performed.
        • Select and rank at least five entities that would be required for the development of the data repositories.

        • Plan each step of the normalization process to ensure the 3NF level of normalization using the selected five entities of the personnel database solution. Document each step of the process and justify your assumptions in the process.
        • Diagram at least five possible entities that will be required to sustain a personnel solution. (Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.) The diagram should include the following:
          • Dependency diagrams.
          • Multivalued dependencies.

          The FDA

           

          Few people have not heard about the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The COVID pandemic has placed a renewed focus on its role in assuring safety of drug approval. It is not nearly as well known that the FDA is tasked with regulating multiple categories of products. One cannot work in healthcare and not be a part of products regulated in some fashion by the FDA. FDA U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

          Investigate the regulatory process for medical products.

          Include the following aspects in the assignment:

          • Access the FDA site, scroll to the bottom to the “Products we Regulate,” choose a product from one of the following sections: Drugs, Medical Devices, Vaccines, Blood, and Biologics.
