By now, you had the opportunity to review the topics, select one, and briefly reflect on the topic. To stay on track and to continue to make progress on the research paper, prepare an outline with the major headings or topic sentences. An outline is a great way to provide organization for papers and projects. Your outline should include the following:
The topic;
One paragraph that describes the importance of the topic; and
At least four major headings in outline form.
The university requires that students use the APA format in writing course papers. Therefore, the APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of sources are to be followed.
You do NOT have to commit to the details of your outline until the research paper is finished. As you continue to research the topic and draft the paper, the organization of your thoughts (i.e., the details of the outline) may evolve. That is expected and acceptable. To organize those thoughts, it is a good idea to begin with an outline.
Use your own words, prepare the assignment in a word-processing application, and submit the outline as one of the following file formats: DOC, DOCX, or PDF.
Research Paper (Due 9/1)
Accidents from falling are one of the leading causes of death and injuries in the construction industry. Find and review several articles in professional publications on construction-related fall accidents. Also, find and review several sample fall protection programs for construction companies, as well as visit www.osha.gov for relevant fall protection requirements. Choose at least one accident you would like to research further and construct a paper that includes the following:
A brief introduction of the problem with fall-related accidents in the construction industry.
A review and analysis of the fall accident chosen for further research.
A detailed discussion on the causative factors associated with the fall accident.
A sample fall protection program developed to suit only the type of work being performed in the accident that is being reviewed. Be specific and include the factors related to the accident. (Do not include portions of a program not directly related to the work in the researched accident.)
A summary of the student’s conclusions on fall hazards in the construction industry, and opinions on the necessity for a fall protection plan.
Your research paper analysis should be at least five pages of text in 12-point double-spaced Times Roman font. Please include an APA style reference for the in-text citations and references that you use.

Meet my deadline
You should begin working on elements of the Final Project in Week One. Each week, there is a recommended learning activity associated with helping you complete the Final Project. There are ungraded and graded practice exercises, which will allow you to practice applying accounting skills learned in class to different scenarios. Work through the problems, starting with Chapter 1, following the instructions in the textbook and Excel template.
Download and open the Excel file BUS591 Final Project Template . Review the instructions presented on the Instructions Tab in the Workbook and the weekly recommended learning activity. If you complete each part as recommended, you will have the complete Final Project finished by Week Six. Chapters 1, 2 and 3 are ungraded practice problems, while Chapters 4 and 13 are graded problems. Take your time and complete all requirements. Also, if you complete the practice problems from Chapter 3, completing the graded portion from Chapter 4 will be much easier.
Do not work ahead unless you read the corresponding chapters. For example, read Chapters 3 and 4 before completing the Continuing Cookie Chronicle problems from those chapters.
Carefully review the Grading Rubric (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
Stuck on a problem? Don’t skip that assignment – click the button to chat with a live tutor. It is free and here to help you now.
You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

2. Review the knowledge and skills relating to:
a. Nursing Care implications: Coronary artery disease, Angioplasty (PTCI), Chest Pain
b. Processes for patient assessment and patient assessment.
c. ISBAR framework for effective communication
d. Vital sign monitoring
e. IVT and infusion management
f. BGL monitoring
g. Clinical reasoning and decision-making.
3. View the Clinical Simulation Learning Experience video.
4. Participate in the Clinical Simulation and debrief.
5. Reflect on your clinical simulation experience and write your response to the following two questions:
Question 1:
Assessment is a key component of nursing practice, required for planning and provision of patient and family centred care. The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) in the national competency standard for registered nurses states that, “The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team so as to achieve goals and health outcomes.”
The simulation scenario involved Mr Bright who had just undergone an angioplasty. A potential problem related to this procedure includes impaired tissue perfusion related to haematoma formation or bleeding.
You are required to find two (2) contemporary, valid research articles (no older than 7 years) relating to the care of the patient undergoing angioplasty. Read the articles focusing on the assessment elements of care required post procedure. (Don’t forget to link your assessment reasoning to anatomy and physiology and pathophysiology).
1. Reflecting on the simulation, you are required to identify CORRECT nursing assessment performed on Mr Bright
relating to the problem stated above. Justify your discussion using evidence from your researched articles.
2. Reflecting on the simulation, you are now required to identify those elements of nursing assessment that were
NOT performed on Mr Bright relating to the problem stated above. Justify your discussion using evidence from your
researched articles.
Question 2:
National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards for Clinical Handover recommend that communication of patient information should be conducted in a standardised format using a structured process in order to transfer relevant patient information.
In the simulation, ISBAR was the structured format used to communicate patient information.
1. Reflect on the simulation at the point in time when Mr Bright complained of chest pain. Using the ISBAR format, dot point your structured verbal handover to the doctor advising of the patient’s chest pain. (You will need to access the patient’s clinical documentation available on Blackboard to complete all areas of ISBAR). As chest pain is an emergency situation, the information provided in ISBAR needs to be concise.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CLASS
Discussion Questions (DQ)
Initial responses to the DQ should address all components of the questions asked, include a minimum of one scholarly source, and be at least 250 words.
Successful responses are substantive (i.e., add something new to the discussion, engage others in the discussion, well-developed idea) and include at least one scholarly source.
One or two sentence responses, simple statements of agreement or “good post,” and responses that are off-topic will not count as substantive. Substantive responses should be at least 150 words.
I encourage you to incorporate the readings from the week (as applicable) into your responses.
Weekly Participation
Your initial responses to the mandatory DQ do not count toward participation and are graded separately.
In addition to the DQ responses, you must post at least one reply to peers (or me) on three separate days, for a total of three replies.
Participation posts do not require a scholarly source/citation (unless you cite someone else’s work).
Part of your weekly participation includes viewing the weekly announcement and attesting to watching it in the comments. These announcements are made to ensure you understand everything that is due during the week.
APA Format and Writing Quality
Familiarize yourself with APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required).
Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation.
I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition.
Use of Direct Quotes
I discourage overutilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Masters’ level and deduct points accordingly.
As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content.
It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source.
LopesWrite Policy
For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.
Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.
Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?
Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.
Late Policy
The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.
Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.
I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.
As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.
Communication
Communication is so very important. There are multiple ways to communicate with me:
Questions to Instructor Forum: This is a great place to ask course content or assignment questions. If you have a question, there is a good chance one of your peers does as well. This is a public forum for the class.
Individual Forum: This is a private forum to ask me questions or send me messages. This will be checked at least once every 24 hours.
