Outline a basic business continuity plan for your business that identifies key business areas and critical functions

Overview

Congratulations! Your funding pitch was a resounding success, and your proposed product or service has been officially approved. Senior management was so impressed with your presentation that they announced the project in a company-wide memo, recognizing your hard work and vision. Congratulations on an outstanding achievement!

One line in the memo really caught your attention: “We are eager to see the project to completion and the many other product offerings to come from this initiative.”

Scenario

When you consult with the project manager (PM), they explain that senior management typically expects to see opportunities for product or service extensions or clear pathways to build on the original idea. This could include variations like lower cost or premium versions, new customer targets or customer segments, or other strategic enhancements.

The PM also adds that senior management will expect to see plans in place for business continuity to safeguard the project's funding. Therefore, the immediate next step is developing a business continuity plan.

Directions

Create a business continuity plan that outlines the next steps, including potential project improvements and strategies to mitigate risk and to protect the product investment. To accomplish this task, leverage employee and customer feedback on the new product or service. Additionally, conduct additional market research and perform a PESTLE analysis to identify any external factors that could affect your new product offering.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  1. Business Continuity Plan: Outline a basic business continuity plan for your business that identifies key business areas and critical functions and also identifies at least one measure for recovering or maintaining critical business operations in case of an emergency. Include how you will ensure that this plan is followed.
  2. Post-Launch Stage: Propose new ideas for the post-launch stage, including one idea for a product or service improvement you plan to implement after the initial launch and one idea for increasing your customer base or engagement post launch.
  3. Feedback Loops: Explain how you will implement feedback loops for your product or service.
  4. PESTLE Analysis: Use PESTLE analysis to identify at least one external risk factor that may affect the project. Then provide a solution or contingency plan for mitigating that risk.

What to Submit

Your submission must be a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, one-inch margins, and 12-point Times New Roman font. Any sources cited should use APA formatting.

Mrs. Lourdes Hernandez is a 43 year-old Cuban woman, who has been married for 30 years, has three (3) adult children, and practices Catholicism.  She seeks consultation at the Liberty Health-Maintenance Organization (HMO) clinic because of nausea, vomiting, and general malaise for the last 4 weeks.  After a full medical work-up by her Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), she is diagnosed as hGC positive.  The Nurse Practitioner counsels Mrs. Hernandez on the pros and cons of pregnancy in this late maternal age.  Mrs. Hernandez agrees to further testing for fetal anomalies, which identifies a genetic disorder.  After a full discussion with her family, Mrs. Hernandez decides to terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible.

What are Cuban's belief on childbearing and termination of pregnancy in the older woman?

You are the Nurse Anesthetist for Mrs. Hernandez's surgical termination of pregnancy at the local hospital.  You are a devout Catholic and do not believe in the termination of life.

Motivational Processes in Human Psychology 1

There will be many times in the workplace when you will have to justify your ideas and why you think that a project should be undertaken. It is important to understand how to explain your ideas to demonstrate the thinking behind them and provide a cohesive plan to initiate the project.

Imagine you are a team manager for an automotive parts manufacturer. Over the past few years, the company has been experiencing increased competition and pressure to reduce costs while maintaining a high level of quality products. Your production line workers have been with the company for an average of 10 years and over time have grown accustomed to routine tasks. Additionally, due to the increased pressure and competition, they are experiencing decreased situational motivation* as they are expected to do more at the same level of pay. You know that it is important to increase the level of motivation for your workers and want to do so in a way that rewards them and provides them with new ways to do their routine tasks.

You have brought the issues to the attention of your manager, and they have asked you to prepare a proposal analyzing the impact of situational motivation that includes your ideas for change and information that supports your points.

*Remember that situational motivation refers to the motivation individuals experience when they are currently engaging in an activity, and it results in the behavior of those individuals. It can either be internal or external motivation.

          Assessment Prep

Watch the following videos from the University Library:

Locate a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed journal articles in the University Library that relate to motivation and behavior. At least 1 of your articles should fit in with the motivational theory you discuss in your proposal.

          Assessment Deliverable

Write a 700- to 1,050-word proposal, including the following:

          • Discuss what behavior you seek from your employees. In your discussion:
          • Describe at least 2 specific employee behaviors that need to be changed.
          • Explain the role that situational motivation plays in achieving this behavioral change.
          • Include at least 1 motivational theory to support your proposed employee behavior change. How does the theory you chose relate to the changes you are proposing? What is that connection? Make sure to clearly relate your theory to your proposed changes and how they connect to each other. The theory should be similar to (or from) the list in Table 1.4, “Thirty-Seven Theories in the Study of Motivation and Emotion (with Supportive References),” on page 18 of Understanding Motivation and Emotion.
          • Explain how you are going to implement your planned employee behavior change. This is the plan portion of the assignment. In your plan:
          • Explain what actions you will take to accomplish your plan. Provide at least 3 specific ideas.
          • Provide steps that you will take to help employees. Make sure what you propose is realistic and something that could actually happen in a work setting.
          • Explain how your chosen journal articles support your points about using motivation to increase the likelihood of employee behavior change.

Tip: An effective proposal is judged on the quality of your writing. Therefore, it is important that your writing is coherent, clear, and compelling. Use words like we/our, instead of I/me, in your assignment.

Include a separate title and reference page.

Cite at least 2 peer-reviewed journal articles.

Format your citations and references according to APA guidelines.

27% of the MEA BI Market Belongs to the UAE How Dubai Became the Smart Data Capital

Dubai’s business ecosystem is evolving faster than ever — powered by innovation, technology, and above all, data. In recent years, the UAE has secured 27% of the entire Middle East and Africa (MEA) Business Intelligence market, proving that the nation isn’t just adopting data analytics — it’s leading the charge.

So, what makes Dubai a powerhouse in Business Intelligence (BI)? Let’s explore how visionary leadership, digital adoption, and a thriving tech culture turned Dubai into the Smart Data Capital of the region.

            1. Vision-Driven Growth: How Dubai’s Leadership Sparked the BI Revolution

Dubai’s transformation began with a national commitment to data-driven governance. Initiatives such as Smart Dubai 2021 and the UAE Digital Economy Strategy laid the foundation for using data as a strategic asset.

The government’s focus on efficiency, transparency, and citizen happiness created massive demand for data analytics and Business Intelligence Services in Dubai. Public departments now rely on BI dashboards to monitor everything from traffic flows to energy consumption, allowing them to make informed, real-time decisions.

This top-down encouragement has trickled into the private sector, where organizations are investing heavily in BI tools to remain competitive in a rapidly digitalizing economy.

            2. Cross-Industry Adoption: From Real Estate to Retail

Unlike many markets where BI is confined to IT departments, Dubai’s adoption is truly cross-sectoral.

            • Finance:      Banks and fintech companies use predictive analytics to detect fraud and      improve customer segmentation.
            • Real      Estate: Developers leverage BI dashboards to forecast demand, optimize      pricing, and identify prime investment zones.
            • Retail:      Data-driven personalization has improved sales and customer loyalty, with      leading chains integrating BI tools into every stage of operations.
            • Logistics:      Ports and shipping companies in Jebel Ali use real-time data tracking to      optimize routes and reduce delays.

This multi-sectoral implementation has fueled growth across the economy. The UAE’s BI and analytics market — currently valued at around USD 187.5 million — is expected to reach USD 595 million by 2035, reflecting a massive surge in adoption and capability.

            3. Global Partnerships and Local Innovation

One reason for Dubai’s dominance is its unique ability to blend global expertise with local vision. The city has formed partnerships with major technology players such as Microsoft, SAP, Oracle, and Google Cloud, accelerating the spread of advanced analytics infrastructure.

Meanwhile, local startups and consultancies are stepping up, providing tailored Business Intelligence Services in Dubai that suit the region’s diverse industries and regulatory needs. Many operate within innovation zones like Dubai Internet City and DIFC, offering scalable cloud-based BI solutions for both enterprises and SMEs.

This collaboration between global technology leaders and agile local firms has created an environment where businesses of any size can harness the power of BI — without heavy investment or complex setup.

            4. Building a Data-Smart Workforce

Technology alone isn’t enough; skilled people make the real difference. Dubai has invested heavily in developing a data-literate workforce capable of interpreting and applying BI insights effectively.

Universities and training centers now offer specialized programs in data analytics, visualization, and AI. Corporate training initiatives have also surged, helping employees understand how to convert numbers into narratives that drive strategic decisions.

As BI tools become more intuitive, professionals across departments — from marketing to operations — can access real-time dashboards and reports. This democratization of data is shaping a new corporate culture where every decision is supported by evidence, not assumption.

            Conclusion: The Future Is Insight-Driven

Dubai’s remarkable success in capturing 27% of the MEA BI market is not an accident — it’s the result of foresight, collaboration, and investment in technology and talent. With continued growth projected across the next decade, Business Intelligence will remain a cornerstone of the emirate’s digital transformation journey.

For businesses looking to thrive in a competitive global landscape, embracing data-driven strategies isn’t optional — it’s essential. And as Dubai continues to lead with vision and innovation, it truly stands as the Smart Data Capital of the Middle East.
