Informative speech: develop a research-based communication presentation

For this assignment, you will develop a research-based communication presentation. You will research information regarding ONE of the several communication contexts of communication scholars’ study pulled from our text, and then deliver a  3-5  minute speech of explanation or description about it. For example, you could choose the Sapir Whorf Hypothesis, explain it and give examples or you could choose the nonverbal cues of facial expressions, SADFISH, and how blind babies innately use these cues.   You will use your research to create an engaging presentation where you teach the demonstrated usefulness of the communication research you've done.

There are four parts to this assignment to complete:

1. AUDIENCE ANALYSIS AND TOPIC SELECTION:
Think of areas of interest to you that would be fun to explore and learn more about and that would simultaneously interest your audience and
increase their knowledge.

2. RESEARCH
As you begin to plan your informative speech, it is important that you go beyond personal experience to
increase the credibility of your speech. Your research should pass the CRAAP test and include credible sources such
as academic journals, periodicals, books, newspapers, interviews, letters, podcasts and other media, and/or
government documents.
You must formally cite in your outline and verbally cite during the delivery of your speech at least 3 sources.

At least one of these sources must be something other than a general website. Wikipedia, encyclopedias,
dictionaries, and similar general reference materials may be useful during your research but do not qualify as
appropriate sources. You are to turn in a typed work cited or references page with your full-sentence outline
that follows the guidelines of either the MLA or APA style manuals. For assistance with MLA and APA format,
refer to the Purdue Online Writing Lab: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/purdue_owl.htmlLinks to an external site.

3. FULL-SENTENCE PREPARATION OUTLINE
Create a typed full-sentence outline that includes all necessary parts of a speech and your works
cited/references at the end (see examples in module). You will submit the outline with accompanying works cited/references for the Informative Speech assignment on Canvas.

4. KEY-WORD PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Your informative speech is to be delivered in an extemporaneous manner. You may use a keyword presentation
outline (not complete sentences) written on notecards when you deliver your speech. I prefer to highlight my full-sentence speech to provide cues. You will NOT READ.

For my informative speech, I chose to focus on fast fashion and its environmental impact. My specific purpose is: At the end of my speech, my audience will understand how fast fashion harms the environment and why sustainable alternatives matter. I will use three main sources: a New York Times article on fast fashion's effects, a report from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation about sustainable solutions, and a study from Nature Reviews Earth & Environment on pollution caused by the fashion industry.

      Description

Over the duration of this course, you will submit a scholarly PowerPoint “Health Promotion Program Proposal,”

addressing existing nursing knowledge related to health promotion and a written proposal.

In the written proposal, you will also develop a health promotion program to meet the health needs of a vulnerable population in your potential concentration area or community. The PowerPoint portion is your presentation of that proposal. The proposal must demonstrate graduate school-level writing and critical analysis. The final version of your proposal is due in week 8.

For this assignment you will submit Part One of your proposal, detailing a health problem that is prevalent within your selected group and demonstrating your research of health promotion strategies for addressing this specific health problem. At this point, you already developed in your discussions the core ideas of the topic contained in this assignment. You will use the same information, but it won’t be a copy-and-paste exercise. The purpose is that you enhance your ideas with the comments and outcomes of the weekly discussions and previous evaluations.

      Directions

      1. Introduction. Describe the health problem. Don't type "Introduction".  (1 paragraph at least).

Using data and statistics, support your claim that the issue you selected is a problem.

What specifically will you address in your proposed health promotion program?

Be sure your proposed outcome is realistic and measurable.

      2. Describe the vulnerable population.  (1 paragraphs).

What are the risk factors that make this a vulnerable population?

Use evidence to support the risk factors you have identified.

      3. Provide a review of literature from scholarly journals (at least 2) of evidence-based interventions that address the problem. (2 paragraphs, one for each article).

      4. After completing a literature search related to effective interventions for your chosen health promotion activity, write a review that evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of all the sources you have found. (2 paragraphs).

      5. Select and present an appropriate health promotion/disease prevention theoretical or conceptual model that best serves as the guiding framework for the proposal.  (2 paragraphs).

For this assignment, a conclusion paragraph is not required.

      Writing Assignment Requirements

Minimum three pages (excluding title page, references, and appendices)

For this assignment, assume the role of an economic advisor to Steve Forbes. Using this week’s required resources and at least two additional credible sources, prepare an 8-10 slide audio PowerPoint presentation, with speaker notes, to communicate with Mr. Forbes about the pandemic’s causes and responses.

Address the following questions in your presentation:

        • What was the economic impact of COVID-19? Address any monetary and fiscal policies used during or after COVID-19.
        • Has the crisis changed the structure of the U.S. economy?
        • Were there differences between countries on how they handled the crisis? Provide at least one economic policy example.

IT course: Review Big Data has undoubtedly played a role in the way business is conducted

            Article Review

Big Data has undoubtedly played a role in the way business is conducted. For many industries, when a product is created, especially a Website, mobile application, or enterprise system, there is a desire to understand how data is presented in the environment. Data has in fact become a usability measurement whether it is under the scope of information, system, or service quality.

For this assignment, you’ll find ONE SCHOLARLY ARTICLE that discusses data in the context of a usability evaluation. Your article should review data from the perspective of an industry vertical (i.e., healthcare, education, supply chain, etc.).

You’ll submit a three-page synopsis of the article that answers the following questions:

            1. Article Title
            2. Article Subject Area
            3. Type of Data Set Used/Evaluated
            4. Synopsis of Article
            5. Three business takeaways on how data impacts the industry in respect to usability
            6. Source Citation

Evidence-Based Project, Part 4: Recommending an Evidence-Based Practice Change

The collection of evidence is an activity that occurs with an endgame in mind. For example, law enforcement professionals collect evidence to support a decision to charge those accused of criminal activity. Similarly, evidence-based healthcare practitioners collect evidence to support decisions in pursuit of specific healthcare outcomes.

In this Assignment, you will identify an issue or opportunity for change within your healthcare organization and propose an idea for a change in practice supported by an EBP approach.

              To Prepare:

              • Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you critically appraised in Module 4, related to your clinical topic of interest and PICOT.
              • Reflect on your current healthcare organization and think about potential opportunities for evidence-based change, using your topic of interest and PICOT as the basis for your reflection.
              • Consider the best method of disseminating the results of your presentation to an audience.

              The Assignment: (Evidence-Based Project)

Part 4: Recommending an Evidence-Based Practice Change

Create an 8- to 9-slide narrated PowerPoint presentation in which you do the following:

              • Briefly describe your healthcare organization, including its culture and readiness for change. (You may opt to keep various elements of this anonymous, such as your company name.)
              • Describe the current problem or opportunity for change. Include in this description the circumstances surrounding the need for change, the scope of the issue, the stakeholders involved, and the risks associated with change implementation in general.
              • Propose an evidence-based idea for a change in practice using an EBP approach to decision making. Note that you may find further research needs to be conducted if sufficient evidence is not discovered.
              • Describe your plan for knowledge transfer of this change, including knowledge creation, dissemination, and organizational adoption and implementation.
              • Explain how you would disseminate the results of your project to an audience. Provide a rationale for why you selected this dissemination strategy.
              • Describe the measurable outcomes you hope to achieve with the implementation of this evidence-based change.
              • Be sure to provide APA citations of the supporting evidence-based peer reviewed articles you selected to support your thinking.
              • Add a lessons learned section that includes the following:
                • A summary of the critical appraisal of the peer-reviewed articles you previously submitted
                • An explanation about what you learned from completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template (1-3 slides)

Briefing Point 1: Entities of Ecosystems

Topic 1a: Ecosystem Profile Personalized healthcare scenario

Beyond Blessed Skilled Nursing Home is a long-term care center that gives complete care to its older inhabitants who can no longer live independently because of chronic diseases, disabilities, or old age. Integrated Behavioral Health, the main project, aims to introduce the traditional model of care to mental health services, including psychiatric care, therapy, and counseling. Integrating the services will help BBSNH provide a more holistic perspective of care, not just physical but also mental. The facility's value is to enhance the lives of the people who reside in the facility, lower the number of hospitalizations, and provide a safer and supportive environment. This is aimed at making the care given cater to all areas of the needs of the residents, hence enhancing greater results and satisfaction.

Topic 1b: Third-Party Healthcare Organizations and Business Partners

Three important external healthcare agencies help facilitate the incorporation of behavioral health. The initial outside healthcare provider is a local behavioral health clinic offering psych-screening or psychiatric assessment, treatment, therapy, and counseling services. The clinic will be important to the ecosystem if it is in a position to provide specialized mental health services, since they are a necessity to the residents who grapple with conditions that include depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric illnesses (Celestin & Vanitha, 2023). The behavioral clinic works with BBSNH, offers routine assessments and interventions, and ensures that mental health provision is provided, in addition to physical care. The second external healthcare organization is a home health agency that offers services after discharge, including physical therapy and nursing support. Such agencies play an essential role in the continuity of care, especially when the residents in the nursing home move out of the facility back into their homes, or when they are subjected to special treatment.

              Point 2 – Care Population:

              2a Population Characteristics

At BBSNH, the most significant proportion of the primary care population is represented by older adults; most residents are above 65 years old. Others cannot afford to stay on their own because of some chronic conditions, disability, or old age. One of this population's demographic features is that it is composed of both sexes, with both male and female residents. However, female residents slightly outnumber male residents. The population is ethnically diverse with Caucasian, African American, and folks of Hispanic background. Most of the residents are widowed and divorced, which is a characteristic of aging. Such residents have low incomes and receive social security, but their support systems are weak (Hawrilenko et al., 2025). Psychographically, the residents treasure respect, ease, and a place of belonging. The social activities they participate in include card games, arts and crafts, and group exercises tailored towards enhancing their physical and mental fitness.

              Topic 2b: Health Status

Chronic illnesses and mental health issues are the major causes that affect the health of the care population. A good percentage of the population is plagued with chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, and rheumatism, and all have to be under medical attention on a long-term basis. Depression, anxiety, and loneliness are also other common mental health issues observed among many residents, and these are caused mainly by isolation and age-related challenges. All these health problems also contribute to the necessity for BBSNH to conduct physical and mental health services so that the needs of residents regarding care are provided to the fullest.

Topic 2c: Healthcare Requirements and Importance

The medical care demands of the BBSNH population are broad and many-faceted. To start with, chronic conditions need to be treated through physical health care, which helps produce as much independence as possible. The medication management, physical therapy, and nursing care are also essential services to maintain the health of the residents and avoid the aggravation of chronic conditions. The second great need will be mental health care. Most residents also have cognitive problems that are not addressed in conventional medical facilities (Wakschlag et al., 2021). Therapy, counseling, and psychiatric care are necessary to minimize the burden of depression, anxiety, as well as other mental illnesses, and, accordingly, enhance the overall well-being and quality of life for residents.

Skilled nursing care is the necessary service that takes a central position in Beyond Blessed Skilled Nursing Home. The role of this service is essential as it directly contributes to the residents' physical health, manages patients with chronic conditions, provides them with medication management, and avoids complications. The nursing staff collaborates with outside parties like hospitals and home health agencies to actively monitor and manage the health of residents.

Topic 3b: Business Partner, Essential Services, and External Healthcare Entities

In the case of the local hospital, the critical service offered is that of acute care services required when residents meet with medical emergencies, such as getting hospitalized. The service is essential as it guarantees that residents can receive highly-professional medical support when their health conditions aggravate suddenly. The hospital is a partner of BBSNH as they smoothly transition the residents and allow them to be adequately treated in the hospital.
