Stages of helping assignment: This assignment assesses course learning outcomes 2 and 3:

Select and apply the skills and processes associated with different phases of the helping relationship: engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
Assess risk and propose approaches to managing risk in social workpractice situations.

Assignment task
This assignment is based on the Henderson case study in Module 2. You are asked to discuss the processes and skills you would choose to engage, assess, and intervene with either Pru or Ken Henderson; describe how you would
manage risks; and explain how you would evaluate the processes and Outcomes of your interventions.
Stages of helping assignment Instructions
As a social worker allocated to the Henderson case, complete the following.
1. Choosing either Pru or Ken as your client, describe the processes and skills you would need to engage with them. Discuss what might go wrong at this stage and how you would mitigate against it. (500 words; 12 points)
2. Write how you would conduct an assessment of the case, clearly explaining the assessment tool(s) you would use and why. Discuss your assessment of the presenting and underlying issues. Discuss what else you would need to make a full assessment and how you would go about obtaining that information. (1000 words; 20 points)
3. Write a risk management plan. Include the identified risks, steps you would take to mitigate risk, who you need to discuss these with, and what other information you will need. (500 words; 24 points)
4. Discuss your chosen form of intervention for this case, explaining why you would choose to intervene in this way and how you would evaluate the outcomes of your intervention. (1000 words; 26 points)
5. Support points made with evidence from course readings and from supplementary research. (8 points)
6. Cite source material using correct APA referencing. (4 points)
7. Be clear and fluent with accurate spelling and grammar. Your writing also needs to be well-structured with a clear introduction, discussion and conclusion and be within the specified word limit. (6 points)
