1.Identify a department with student interaction at xxx University such as Admissions, Gourmet Dining Services, the Bookstore, Career Services, Residence Life, or Office of Information Technology. (You might have another Rider department/segment in mind). Based on your personal experience as a customer (and maybe a supplier of labor, i.e., an employee), list two main activities in five of the elements of the value chain (i.e., design, supply, service, etc.). Therefore, you will provide ten total activities.
2.After gaining an understanding of these main activities, list three value-added ideas to improve any of the value chain activities in that department or segment. You only need three in total, not three for each area that you listed in Requirement 1. To help formulate your thoughts, think about the list of questions that “test for value” as presented in the Powerpoint slides.
3..List three cost-reduction opportunities for that department. Again, this is only three in total, not three for each activity you listed in Requirement 1. Consider the “Value Engineering Brainstorming” list in the Powerpoint slides to assist in deriving your three recommendations.
