- Is ADHD more prevalent today than in the past? What accounts for the increased diagnosis of ADHD on children in America today? Is ADHD biological or caused by the environment? What do you think? Living in Africa (Ghana and Malawi) for 7.5 years I have never heard mention of ADHD. Taking into account the Life Course Perspective, what assumptions can we make about ADHD? Should we make such assumptions?
- Taking into consideration the family influence on the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development; what impact does parenting style, the parent-child relationship, divorce and/or blended families, growing up as an only-child or with siblings and maternal employment have on a child in middle childhood? What are your initial thoughts on the readings provided? Can you relate personally to any of the above experiences and what that experience meant to you and how it shaped who you are today? Does the research align with your personal experience? What theory or perspective seems most useful for making sense of these findings?
