Creating Final Professional Portfolio

Creating Final Professional Portfolio
In my professional summary, I have exhibited exceptional performance in different institutions of learning. I hold a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Maryland and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Montgomery College in Takoma Park. I also have a diploma in midwifery from St. Patrick’ Midwifery Training College at Ashanti Region in Ghana. My career goals are to be compassionate and skillful to help me provide quality care to patients.
Through the course of learning, I have evolved to become a registered and professional nurse. Specifically, the learning outcomes have improved my knowledge, skills, and attitude throughout practice as evidenced in my places of service. From 2018 to date, I work as a registered nurse at Cadia Healthcare, Hyattsville in Maryland. Previously, I acquired clinical experience at Holy Cross Hospital where I worked as an intern in 2017. Between 2014 and 2018, I worked as a caregiver at Family and Nursing Care in Maryland. From 2012 to 2014, I served as a care manager at Sunrise Senior Living in Maryland. Finally, between 2011 and 2012, I rendered my services as a midwife at Tepa Hospital in Ghana. Throughout the practice, I have developed critical thinking on different approaches to nursing care.
I understand that nursing profession uses evidence-based practice to promote care to patients. As such, I will adhere to the code of nursing practice to ensure that I streamline my activities based on the established protocol of care (Avins, Huttner & Miller, 2019). In the next three years, I intend to enroll in an advanced master’s program in nursing so that I can be able to utilize educational resources as primary and secondary sources of practicing evidence-based practice. In the next five years, I intend to learn leadership skills in preparation for future responsibilities of nurse leadership. I also believe in continuing education as part of competence building which will steer my professional growth in the future. Notwithstanding, my goal of nursing practice is focused on integrating technology in the process of patient care (Mellor & Gregoric, 2016). Specifically, I intend to build competency in the electronic medical record systems and use the latest technology that optimizes quality outcomes for patients.

Meet my deadline

During my learning, I focused entirely on education programs that enable me to conceptualize nursing practice. The premise has immensely improved my knowledge of patient care and the emerging issues related to the nursing profession. I pride in this strength as it has granted me the ability to use evidence-based practice, especially when performing nursing procedures for patients in critical care units. Besides, I am a responsible person in the process of nursing and often dedicate special time to activities in accordance with their priority (Mellor & Gregoric, 2016). Accordingly, I have dedicated my effort to complete all classes without failing any of the courses. Based on this premise, I have a conviction that I can be a better nurse in my present place of work. Nonetheless, I believe that I am enthusiastic and therefore I can accomplish tasks within the given time frame.
I have various challenges that I experienced during my studies and I have faced in professional practice. I give attention to details which often make me concentrate on pertinent issues in my studies and line of care. Even though giving more attention has expanded my ability to handle issues, I have discovered that it is a weakness especially when there is a surge in patient population who require immediate care. However, I believe in change and I can use the course skills as an avenue to prioritize activities in my area of practice.
I utilized knowledge acquired during my course studies in nursing practice to optimize quality care for patients. I consider the knowledge and skills as an opportunity for growth as I can synthesize concepts from empirical together with theoretical studies to come up with solutions to specific problems in the line of care. Moreover, with regard to care for patients, I learned to express compassion to my clients (Avins, Huttner & Miller, 2019). I consider this as an opportunity to offer patient-centered care to my clients both in the current and future practice. Nonetheless, I have developed the skills to understand the concepts of advocacy which I believe will enable me to fight for the rights of my clients.
However, there is one threat that relates to the integration of leadership skills in the line of practice. I believe I do not have the requisite experience and education to emerge as a nurse leader in my current line of practice. The premise is compounded by the level of competition among colleagues most of whom have completed Masters of nursing programs while others have enrolled for Doctor of Nursing Programs. Besides, 70% of the nursing staff are seasoned nurses who have provided services for 15 years and beyond. As such, I believe that I can enroll in advanced studies to gain the necessary skills relevant to nursing leadership.
